Finally Finished A Game Jam

After numerous failed attempts, I have finally submitted a game in a game jam on time.  Even though the game is very small and simply made, it is a great feeling to finally say I have something out there. Early days, but the feedback has been heart-warming and invaluable. With that being said I now should look back and see what experiences and lessons I should take from this jam.

Firstly I must acknowledge how small the game is. For context, I spent roughly 10 hours over 3 days as I forgot signed up for the jam. It really helped me focus on a quick game that will could with little foundations. The final experience is quick, fun, and repayable. I would have liked to created something with a lot more depth, but that is why we have game jams. To be testing and fun.

My Other main takeback is on the quality. Even though im happy with how the game came out, I do wish I spent more time polishing, and focusing on design besides those behind the scenes. The code for this game scalable and means I could easily add blocks, materials, levels without using any lines of code. Which is a nice stage to be at, but hinders a game jam game with such time restraints. Looking back I should have use the set I have now without such time on the code, and spent longer focusing on features now missing. Like Sound, Original Art,  Tutorial.

Last feature I will comment on is the confidence behind it. As I said at the start, I have attempted a couple jams, but never got to publishing. Brackeys is amazing, and I thank them all for creating such opportunities.  Also thankful for the amazing community I have seen and spoke to so far. I always found it tough to promote my own stuff (also why im posting a lot and creating video links. Sorry if annoying) but that initial force has paid off and the community has made it comfortable and easy. Thank you all!

Last Last Note: I do want to take all the advice I have received and use it to complete this game. Anymore feedback or advice please comment bellow. Follow if want to be kept up to date on updates on this game and others I will be releasing.
